Friday FREE Movies!!!!

An alfresco animated film is showing in each of two Bed-Stuy parks tonight: Kirikou and the Sorceress, by famed French animator Michel Ocelot.


FREE Fridays!!! @The Children’s Museum of Manhattan thanks to the Target Free First Friday Night program, admission to the museum is free this evening. Kids can run around the interactive exhibits, or get creative doing themed art projects and offers complimentary admission from 5 to 8pm.

Saturday/Sunday Hong Kong Boat Festival!!!!!

This annual sporting event celebrates the fifth moon (or fifth month) of the lunar calendar. Wee ones will get a kick out of the colorful, dragon-shaped vessels racing across Meadow Lake, their oarsmen rowing to the beat of Chinese drums. In addition to watching the 165 or so teams that have come from across the U.S. to take part in this year’s race, families can listen to live music, catch martial arts demonstrations and munch on ethnic grub. We The People:America Rocks!!

How do you get kids to care about American civics? Dream up a rock musical in which the Founding Fathers are a boy band that inspires a young student running for class president. That’s just what Theatreworks USA has pulled off with its brand-new show, a cross between High School Musical and the best of Schoolhouse Rock. Tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Many performances sell out so arrive early to snag seats. No stroller storage. Ages 8 and up. Saturday!Lincoln Center Out of Doors Kids Day

Young ladies and gents will gain inspiration from this concert by campers (ages 8 to 18) from the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls (2pm). The visual senses get their turn earlier in the day with the Puppeteers’ Cooperative pageant (4pm), featuring giant puppets, original music and a New York–centric fairy tale about urban critters (think cats, dogs, pigeons and rats).Ages 1 and up. Instead of cooking indoors….wait don’t cook at all.

Pack some sandwiches, a blanket, a pitcher of your favorite drink and your childs  favorite toy then  enjoy this day.The weather is supposed to be perfect for it.
